Lutherans and Catholics Discuss Common Ground and Worship Together (Cedar Rapids, IA)

Following a worldwide initiative of the Lutheran World Federation and the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, both Catholics and Lutherans in the Cedar Rapids/Marion area will gather for a landmark common worship

The service will start at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 857 3rd Ave SE Cedar Rapids. Halfway through the service, participants will “cross over the divisions” literally by crossing the intersection of Third Avenue and Tenth Street, and concluding the worship service at First Lutheran Church, 1000 Third Ave SE.

The services will be jointly led by Catholic Priest Father Chris Podhajsky and Lutheran Pastor Craig Brown among others. This service is free and open to all Lutherans and Catholics in the Cedar Rapids/Marion area. There will be refreshments at First Lutheran Church following the service. Everyone volunteering is asked to arrive at 3:30 p.m. at Immaculate Conception.
